This website contains all the information about Lumina City, the story that I've created, the world that it's set in, and all the characters associated with it.
What is Lumina City?
Lumina City is a little webcomic that I've created that is currently in development. I have created a lot of characters for it, and will start working on it very soon.
Lumina City is a normal sitcom coming-of-age type story, that is set in a city where half of the residents are lumens, which are Undertale-like monsters (some are anthropomorphic animals, some are just sentient objects with bodies). They and the human inhabitants coexist, which is very normal for this world.
The main character for this story is Flick, who is a teenage lumen-human hybrid who lives in this city. She goes to Lumina High and has a group of friends who she hangs out with all the time.
Not many intense or dramatic things will happen in the story, and I am still working on the plot. It is going to be structured like a sitcom show, and I will release it in episodes which all have their own mini-plot.
I'm not taking this super seriously and I'm mainly doing all this for fun, and I won't release the first episode for a month or two, but I will update this site every few days.
Where is it set?
Lumina City exists in some other universe. Hundreds of years ago it was only populated by lumens and humans didn’t exist there at all
But a bunch of humans decided to invade the city and claim it as their own, they treated all the lumens as inferior like they were not people, and didn't give them many rights
Now centuries have passed and Lumens have the same rights as humans in Lumina City, they can go to the same schools and work at the same places, they even have a Lumen running for president. (There are some humans that still think they are better than lumens. This is called Lumaphobia) (Still many people think that it should be illegal for lumens and humans to get married or have kids. Hybrids are extremely rare and often looked down upon)
Lumens have different DNA to humans and can still have kids with other lumens despite them being very different. Although kid lumens still take traits from both parents like humans, the kid is often a combination of whatever the parents are. For example, if a fossil lumen had a kid with a tv lumen the kid might be an antique TV or a radio. Two lumens of the same gender can also have kids which is very common.
Lumens also have different DNA to animals. For example, a catlike lumen and an actual cat would have completely different DNA. Lumen DNA contains a lot of strange substances which haven’t been fully explored yet.
Basically, everyone is very used to life in Lumina City and there are no crazy fantasy things going on. It’s just like a regular city in a regular world except there are humanlike animals and people with tvs for heads living there which is normal.
Also, the games Belowstory and Omegaglyph (which are really just alternate universe versions of Undertale and Deltarune) are very popular in this world.
Characters in this story
There are a lot of characters in this story, because there are a lot of people living in Lumina City. Flicker is the main character of course, but Chirp and Cherri are also main characters. Other characters like Tilla, Sammy, Britney and Daley appear in almost every episode and are semi-main characters. Characters like Victoria, Moffi, Kipp and Lacey do appear as important characters in quite a few episodes but do not appear in as many. Characters like Delia and Lenny only appear in a few, but they are important in those episodes. Finally, characters like Fern and Lexi have side roles in a few episodes, and characters like Emry appear only slightly.
Characters like Aster and Lilac almost never appear at all. They have their own stories, and I’m not sure how I’m going to incorporate their story into the main story, but I’m going to try!
Flicker Castello
Flick Castello is the main character of this story. She is one of the only lumen-human hybrids and lives a very normal life. She goes to a normal school in Lumina City. She has normal parents who work as highly respectable doctors, and has a good friend group with Chirp, Cherrie and Tilla. She is 16 years old and has a job at a bookstore run by a friendly human named Britney. Sammy and Kipp also work at this bookstore. Flick is becoming good friends with Sammy and Britney now, but Kipp is very antisocial.
Flick is mostly humanoid but has loads of blue patches of skin all over her, and scorching red hair. She has blue horns and a long blue tail which she inherited from her Lumen mother. Her head has a little snouty thing which looks weird on her human face.
She is EXTREMELY confident (almost too confident) and hard working (sometimes). She is also very trusting which is not always a good thing for her.
She often goofs off with her friends and gets in trouble at school. She is closest with Chirp but has a lot of other friends.
She also might be asexual/aromantic and definitely won’t get a crush or date anyone throughout the story (but this might change)
Flick also has a lot of cousins on both sides of her family. Her grandparents are all good friends, but both of her parents have two siblings. One of her mum’s siblings lives far away in another country and the other lives in Lumina City and has 4 kids around Flick’s age; and both of her dad’s siblings live in Lumina City. One of her dad’s siblings has a 4 year old kid and the other has 3 kids who are all around Flick’s age. Her lumen cousins and her human cousins hate each other, but their parents are great friends. They often catch up on the holidays, and her cousins go to war against each other. Flick tries not to get involved because she isn’t accepted on either side. Except, one of her lumen cousins (on her mum’s side), Lexi, is good friends with Flick and doesn’t like getting involved in the cousin war either.

Chirp Hurley
Chirp Hurley is Flick’s best friend and is a birdlike lumen with pink feathers. She is super peppy and confident and extravagant, and REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wants to fly one day. Her wings are not large enough to fly, but that’s not stopping her. She is very sporty as well and wants to get a job as a reporter. She has been friends with Flick since they were kids.
She DESPISES Victoria Mendez who is a human reporter who is very lumaphobic. This is because once Chirp asked if she could get a job working for her, as an intern, and Victoria thought it was a joke and said she would NEVER employ a LUMEN as her intern and she was ridiculous for asking. Chirp wants to get a job for Moffi Prentiss who is another reporter who also hates Victoria and is writing an article to 'take her down'.
Chirp's real name is actually Claire, but she hates this name so much. When she was a little kid, a bully said that the name Claire didn't suit her at all, and since she was a bird, she should be called Chirp since that's what she does all day. Chirp liked this name so much she asked everyone to call her that which confused the bully so much he stopped bullying her.
She has a younger brother called Lenny who thinks he’s the coolest person alive. He has blue feathers which he slicks back to look ‘cool’. But Chirp and her friends think it just makes him look like a blue version of Scamton from the popular game Omegaglyph (which is not a compliment). Lenny is friends with Daley, who is often hanging out with Lenny when Chirp’s friends come over to her house. This has caused all of Chirp’s friends to get to know Daley very well.
She has rosy pink and orange feathers and wears a bandanna on her head. She also ties a lot of her head feathers up in a ponytail. She wears a small scarf and a tank top with a sun on it. Her wings are really large, so she has to wear a tank top with wide sleeves. She also wears baggy cargo shorts with a hole for her tail and almost never wears shoes.
She is also probably attracted to both boys and girls and will most likely be pansexual (but idk)
Her parents are both bird lumens who were a sort of arranged marriage. Chirp wonders if they would have dated if they were not both birds.
Cherri Locke

Cherri Locke is a human and another close friend of Flick, Chirp and Tilla. She is punky and silly and nice if you get to know her but can come off as mean or rude. She is very close with Tilla.
She believes in lumens getting the same rights as humans and is Very Passionate about this. She has a crush on Lacey who is a deerlike lumen who goes to her school. She thinks Kipp (who works at Britney’s bookstore) is really cool.
Almost every time she hangs out at Chirp’s house, Chirp’s brother has invited Daley Lampett over, and over time the two of them have become friends. She often teases Daley in a playful way and Daley considers her his ‘nemesis’.
She runs a Lumen Rights Club at school, which Fern Plantar has joined. Cherri invited Mauve Marino, who she knows is very passionate about lumen rights, to join, but Mauve hates humans and said that she would never join a club run by a human.
She has darkish skin and brown hair which she ties into loose pigtails. She wears one of those spiky collar things and has loads of ear piercings. She has braces as well.
Also in this world, dating someone who is the opposite species to you is ‘weirder’ than dating someone who is the same gender as you. Neither of these things should be considered weird in the first place. And by falling in love with Lacey, Cherri wants to do both!

Tilla Vineley
Tilla Vineley is a human who is in Flick’s friend group. She is super shy and quiet and antisocial, and very different from her friends. Sammy, who works at Britney’s library, has a big crush on her.
Tilla is very close with Cherri and has known her for a very long time, despite the fact that they are very different. Tilla is a talented artist who is working on a webcomic. She loves the video game Omegaglyph which Sammy also LOVES.
In one episode, she decides to publish the webcomic that she has been working on for a while. It becomes very unexpectedly popular, and everyone at school knows that she wrote it. Tilla hates getting attention, so she tells everyone that the comic was written by someone else. Delia the Mean Girl catches Tilla publishing a chapter of the comic on her laptop and wants to tell everyone that she is behind it but realises that this will just make Tilla very popular and loved, which Delia doesn’t want. So, she decides not to tell everyone and (reluctantly) makes a deal with Tilla.
She has bright red hair which she straightens every day but is naturally wavy and fluffy. Once, for a party, she decides to not straighten her hair, and Sammy thinks she looks AMAZING like that. She often wears a long white sleeve shirt with a sweater vest over the top, as well as a dark blue skirt. She might also have braces, but I haven’t decided on this yet. She also has dark blue glasses.

Britney Lampett
Britney Lampett is a human who owns the Bright Bookstore which she inherited from her mother. She is around 30 and is very sweet and friendly. Her parents adopted a Lumen called Daley who is candle-like and 15 years old.
She went to the same university as Victoria Mendez and the two of them have a secret rivalry and are always glaring at each other. No-one knows why they hate each other so much but Chirp thinks it’s really cool.
She has straight red hair which sticks up at the end like Rouxls Kaard. She wears a white sweater with black stripes. She also often wears a yellow headband and has white glasses. She looks similar to Tilla as they are cousins.
Sammy Quentin
Sammy Quentin is a human who is about 15 and works at the Bright Bookstore. He is super-duper shy and anxious, even more so than Tilla, and loves caterpillars. He made his own hoodie that he pulls onto his face when he is overwhelmed that has caterpillar antennae to make him look like his favourite animal.
He has an enormous crush on Tilla. He LOVES the video game Belowstory and hates that Tilla prefers its sequel, Omegaglyph, because whenever Tilla talks about these games, Sammy always wants to argue with her and say that Belowstory is better.
He has scruffy brown hair and dark green glasses and loads of freckles. He wears a hoodie with blue, aqua and green stripes which he made himself (described earlier).
He was originally based on a human version of the character Squirm from Dandy's World, but he has grown and evolved into a brand new character!
Kipp Lavore
I don't currently have any art of Kipp to share, but I will add some very soon! Watch this space!
Kipp Lavore is a catlike lumen who also works at the B.Bookstore and is 19 years old and goes to university. She is enemies with Cherri’s older sister Hailey, which is why Cherri likes her so much. She is mean and grumpy and antisocial and likes that punky alternative style (idk the name).
Cherri and Daley both idolize Kipp and Daley believes she is the greatest person on earth. They both often try to talk to her but Kipp always brushes them off. Cherri tries to get Kipp to join her Lumen Rights Club but Kipp couldn’t care less.
She has scruffy dark grey fur with black and white patches. She has a nose piercing and loads of piercings on her cat ears, which Cherri thinks is really cool.
Victoria Mendez
Victoria Mendez is a human reporter who is around 30 and I have mentioned her a lot in previous character descriptions. She is very rude and mean and extremely lumaphobic (thinks that lumens are below humans). She went to the same university as Britney and the two of them hate each other.
Victoria works for a very famous news company which often prints rude or incorrect articles, but despite this is very popular (like Victoria herself).
Chirp, who wants to become a reporter, once asked to become Victoria’s intern because Chirp thought it would ‘give her some status in the reporting world’, but Victoria just laughed at her (this incident is described in Chirp’s profile)
She wears iconic green square glasses and a dark green suit at almost all times.
She looks a tiny bit like a human version of Tenna from Deltarune, but she is not similar to Tenna in almost any way.
Moffi Prentiss
I don't currently have any art of Moffi to share, but I will add some very soon! Watch this space!
Moffi Prentiss is another human reporter who is around 25. She is clever and smart and hard working. She has very short blond hair and lots of freckles and wears a long sleeve black shirt with a sweater-vest and tie (similar to Tilla except for the tie.)
She hates Victoria and believes she is spreading misinformation, and works for a smaller newspaper called the Lighthouse. She is working on a news article that she is going to publish online that will expose Victoria for all the bad things she’s doing. Chirp thinks she is really cool and wants to work for her. Moffi is friends with Liz who is a lynxlike lumen photographer.
She is absolutely SICK of everyone telling her that she has a silly name.
Daley Lampett

Daley Lampett is Britney’s adopted brother. Their parents adopted him when he was a baby because his parents had disappeared (probably because they couldn’t take care of him, I guess). Since Daley is a lumen and Britney is not, they have gotten a lot of strange looks over the years.
Daley often hangs out at his sister’s bookstore, trying to prank people and make a mess (which usually fails). He tries to look ‘punky’ and says that he’s ‘not like other kids’ but he just looks kind of weird all the time. He tries to be cool and powerful but underneath all this exterior he is a nice kid.
He is best friends with Chirp’s brother Lenny. Lenny often invites Daley over when Chirp has invited Cherri over, so Daley and Cherri have met a lot. They have even become pretty good friends and have a very one-sided rivalry (Daley considers Cherri his nemesis).
Daley thinks Kipp is really cool and idolizes her. He often tries to make conversation with her but Kipp always brushes him off. He sometimes teases Sammy for being quiet and shy.
Daley has a dark greyish purple candle for a head, with a red flame that goes out when he is sad and becomes brighter when he is excited or angry. It can set other things on fire if Daley is not careful. He also wears a black hoodie and pants and large red boots for some reason. He only wears the hoodie because he thinks it looks cool; if he actually tried to put the hoodie on, it would catch on fire.
Daley is turning out to be a much more important and detailed character than I originally planned lollll I love it when this happens
Lenny Hurley

Lenny Hurley is Chirp’s younger brother. He is one year younger than her and is the same age as Daley. Lenny and Daley go to the same school and are friends. Lenny often invites Daley over to his house at the same time Chirp invites Cherri.
Lenny has aqua-coloured feathers which he got from his mum. He slicks back his head feathers to try and look cool, but Chirp thinks it makes him look like Scamton from the video game Omegaglyph.
Lenny thinks he’s the coolest person ever and everyone should love him. He thinks he’s super smart and clever but in reality, he’s not that smart.
He is semi-based on Berdly from Deltarune, and is also based on my brother a little bit
Side characters
These characters feature in a few episodes, but don't play a huge role in the main story.
Lexi Stello is Flick’s cousin and is 18 years old. She is batlike which she gets from one of her mums and has dark blue and brown fur. She Has small horns as well which she gets from Flick’s side of the family. She is nice and fun and is good friends with Flick and is the only Stello kid to not get involved with the Cousin War.
Delia Grey is the Annoying Popular Girl™ at Lumina High because there always has to be one of those. She is a tall human with blonde hair which she definitely dyes. She is of course very mean and rude and is especially mean to Flick and Tilla. She is enemies with Cherri and runs for student council against her. Despite her status as Annoying Popular Girl, she is actually not very popular at all, because most people think she is mean. She does have a whole friend group full of mean girls, though.
Lacey Laine is a deerlike lumen who appears in a few episodes. She is very sweet and nice and cares a lot about others. Cherri has an enormous crush on her and the two of them will eventually start dating! She is in the same grade as Flick and friends at school. She is also friends with Fern.
Lizbeth Mawe is a lynx-like lumen who works as a photographer for Moffi Prentiss. She is very friendly and enthusiastic and loves her job a lot. She wants to become a famous photographer one day. She is around 25 years old. She also dislikes Victoria because of something that happened a few years ago which she doesn’t like to talk about.
Mauve Marino is an axolotl like lumen. She hates humans and refuses to associate with them in any situation which has caused a lot of problems. She is very passionate about lumen rights and believes lumens are better than humans. She is different from Cherri as Cherri believes lumens should have the same rights as humans, not more. Cherri invited Mauve to join her Lumen Rights Club, but Mauve said that she would never join a club run by a human. Mauve and Cherri dislike each other a lot.
Fern Plantar is a side character who is a plant lumen who is in the same year as Flick at school. She is nice and respectful and is in the ‘popular group’ at school (despite this she dislikes Delia a lot). She loves getting involved in lots of clubs at school and joins Cherri’s Lumen Rights Club.
Emry Greenleaf is a snail like lumen who is older than Flick. They work at Flick’s favourite café where Flick and friends often hang out. Emry never ever talks, but Flick is very good at understanding what they are saying anyway. Their name is short for Emerald because they have green skin. They also have antennae, a small tail and a really cool shell. They are one of the only nonbinary characters in Lumina City for now.
Side story: Lilac and Aster
The images used here are old art and will be replaced soon. Some of the designs don't match up, because they were designed at different points in time.
Lilac Beacon and Aster Nolan are two scientists who work together. Lilac is very interested in researching the biology of lumens and where they come from, as she is a lumen herself and has always wondered these things. Aster is a human who went to college with Lilac and has been invited by Lilac to work with her.
Lilac is a beaker like lumen with purple liquid inside her head. Ever since she was young, she has wondered why on earth she has an inanimate object for a head, and how she can be alive.
Over the course of their work, Aster and Lilac do many experiments with lumen, animal and human DNA, using themselves as test subjects mostly. At one point, Lilac discovered a serum that she believed would change her lumen DNA into something else. She didn’t exactly know what it did but she believed it would make her famous.
She kept this serum from Aster and didn’t tell him about it until the day had come to test it. Lilac injected a tiny dose of the serum into herself as a test subject, thinking that it would only slightly change her DNA, and she would be able to record her own DNA changes before she tested it fully.
Despite the fact that she only used a tiny dose, the serum temporarily changed her DNA massively, making her body change drastically and increase in size, transforming her into a larger beast with massive claws. The serum also changed her mind, making her lose her sanity and attack Aster, giving him large scars on his body and making him partially blind in one eye.
The serum didn’t last very long though, and Lilac returned to normal, though her DNA remained slightly changed, and her sanity extremely fragile. Aster refused to continue working with her, believing that her experiments were incredibly volatile and dangerous, while Lilac continued to work on her experiments, believing that one day she could perfect the serum.
It is still unknown what causes lumens to transform when they are exposed to the serum. It may be due to the DNA makeup of lumens consisting of a lot of unknown substances.
It only required a tiny dose of the serum to make Lilac transform… Lilac wonders what would happen if a person drank a whole cup full. (Lilac doesn't know this, but if a person took at least a cup of serum, they would transform into an extremely dangerous lumen-monster for a few hours, then their body would not be able to handle its energy and would shut down. Their body may even start to melt and form an Amalgamate-like creature.)
Also, the serum only works on lumens. If a human tried to use the serum their immune systems would shut down and their body would stop functioning.
Lilac and Aster used to work with Flick’s mother, Lazuli, many years ago, before she met Flick’s dad Jamie and started working as a doctor.
